Steve on Fire in WA

The mercury rose on and off the green in WA last week with the Men's State Title up for grabs at Sorrento Bowling Club.

In the mix again was Steve Withers, fresh from his State Fours Championship win late last year. Steve powered through the early rounds and into the semi-final where he had a great win over Neville Stephens. It was clear that the Mosman Park gun was in great form with his Edge Factors.

Conditions for the final were extreme with "42 degree heat...gutsy easterlies and a slick 18 second surface."  

Taking on Anthony Provost in what became an epic, see-sawing affair, Steve took the match right up to his opponent but in the end had to be content with the runners-up trophy, the score finishing up 25-22. 

Steve will be hoping he has impressed state selectors enough to be named in the WA Squad for the Australian Sides Championships when that announcement is made in February.
