Damon Jeffery - A Champion Again

16 November 2011

Damon Jeffery is making a habit of this. Being a Champion of Champions that is.

When he took out his first Champion of Champion Fours title earlier this week with Weston Creek, he added it to the Pairs and Triples Champion of Champions trophies he won last year.

"This win was a real thrill," he said, "I had won 4 of the last 5 club fours at Weston Creek but hadn't managed to snare a Champion of Champion fours title until now. "

In the final Damon's Weston Creek outfit defeated Yowani 20-16. Despite only a four shot margin in the final scoreline, the Weston Creek boys were were always in control, holding a 7 or 8 shot buffer throughout the entire game.

"The green was very tricky and a lot of players were getting pretty frustrated at times but I was always extremely confident with my Edge Plus. I could always trust that I would get some nice turn out of them when others using tighter sets couldn't."

Playing on lots of different greens, Damon uses both the Edge Factors and Edge Plus which he has found to be a real bonus on the different greens he encounters both in Canberra and in Sydney where he plays for The Hills in the NSW Premier League. "I have been alternating sets a fair bit," he said "On tricky or slower greens I have been using the Edge Plus, but using my Factors on free running, turning greens. It's been very handy for me to be able to choose the right bowl for the right conditions."

Damon will be hoping his good form carries over to this week when he turns out for the ACT team in the test series against Victoria this week.
